We took the challenge "Internet On The Ocean" and added our creativity and mindset into creating a solution for it.
The following link consists of our Powerpoint presentation (we suggest to download it and watch it fullscreen, as it contains Animated GIF images) - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jIWYnoHyRPuap1WnF...
Our Plan:
We thought of a unit that transmits laser signals recieved by a server, it transmits in binary order, if laser is turned on its a 1, if off its a 0, that goes at a speed of 40GHz with the help of a photodetector which detects it, behind the units is a prism that is automaticlly adjusted to direct itself to the nearest unit.
Our Costings:
we took an example from the most popullated oil rig area, we would be making a B2B business module, and sell our services to oil rig companies to provide them with fast internet.
an estimated $80K-$200K is spent from oil rig companies connecting to the internet, with our technology, not only would everyone have acces to the internet, but it would be cheaper to maintain.
it would take just $100K to install and than it would run on solar panels (execpt the main laser transmitter), our idea would save a lot of money on the long run, and it would connect people more efficiently
While making our projects we found out that the following sources helped us a lot, they are:
