The Challenge | Internet on the Ocean

The internet is not easily accessible in many areas of the world, like the Earth’s oceans. Fishermen, sailors, and others have limited data connection with the rest of the world. Although satellite internet is widely available, it is very expensive for a user to implement. Your challenge is to design a low-cost method of delivering internet to people located far away on the ocean.

MAR-KET PLACE

Connecting fishermen and the market with low-cost technology

#moonshot

Hello, we are the #moonshot team and we are facing the challenge Internet on the Ocean and we'll use Nasa data for weather forecasting.

Our solution will help the offshore fishermen at overseas and need to send messages to their families, ask for help and sell their goodies.

He'd use a simple mobile application which communicates via WiFi with a vessel-based device which in turn using its antenna send these information to a low cost Nano Satellites constellation.

Then those information will be available both to our ground-based staff and to the final consumers at our marketplace.
