The Challenge | Internet on the Ocean

The internet is not easily accessible in many areas of the world, like the Earth’s oceans. Fishermen, sailors, and others have limited data connection with the rest of the world. Although satellite internet is widely available, it is very expensive for a user to implement. Your challenge is to design a low-cost method of delivering internet to people located far away on the ocean.

Ocean Conect

Our goal with Ocean Connect is to bring affordable connectivity to the blue economy taking advantage of the available radio infrastructure on the ships to transmit data and route packages until it reaches a hotspot on the ground.

SpaceF

We live in a connected and communicative world, and Internet use drives thosethat are far away. However, although there are options to use it via satellite, being economically unviable; There are still many land points and mostlyin the ocean, which do not have internet access. Given this, the project presented aims atsolve the problem related to the lack of internet in the oceans. Our Ocean Connect solution enables ocean Internet distribution usingradio waves and ship devices. Each ship will function as a node on which theevery 111 km away through the radio waves, in a kind of landline phonewill transmit the signal from the Internet point to point. Stressing that the above solutionmentioned caters to a specific niche, sailors and the entire public in the ocean. From an information and data sharing perspective, study, for example, could transmit the data collected to study centers oruniversities; Large navigations can share information fastercontent, location, cargo and integrity of the ship or even report aserious situation. All applicable and economically viable, and especially with lowcost.
