I'd like to propose that the problem we face is not that people can't imagine what it would be like for many communities to one day be underwater. The real problem is that too many people do not want to take the time to personally read all the studies and assess for themselves whether the science is real.

To help address this (within the short time we have) I propose that we make an animated 2D multi-histogram of: a) log(Water Mass), and b) log(Water Volume) versus log(abs(altitude))*sign(altitude). Depth would be represented by negative altitudes.

The graph will be animated to show specifically how sea level rise will occur over time. The animated graph will help Joe Skeptic to gain an interesting new perspective on the subject. That, in turn, might entice him/her to share what they learned with others (e.g. perhaps by incorporating our graph into a YouTube video on the subject). This will help to spread the word that the science of climate change and the forecasted consequences are real.

Possible Roles Within Our Team:

1) Research and Data Acquisition (Where can we find data sets that would permit us to construct such an animated graph?)

2) Data Import/Export and Number Crunching

3) Graphic Artistry (Find images to represent heights and depths, make our graph look artistically professional)

4) A Coder with HTML5 or DX3D, GIT, and web content creation expertise.

5) Our Customer Facing Talent (we will need a communicator with Powerpoint abilities, presentation skills, and personality)
