Background:

Rising sea level has become a global issue due to key contributors such as the thermal expansion of water, and the melting of glaciers and ice sheets. However, the gradual increase of our sea levels is notextremely obvious to our communities because it does not yet have a direct and immediateimpact. Our team is working on creating a visualization tool to inform thepublic about the impending dilemma of rising sea levels. By using NASA data onCO2 emissions, global temperature increases, and rising sea levels along with the Google Elevation API we are developing a web app, which clearly explains whenand how our cities and environment will be impacted by rising waters.

Challenges:

In the process of developing our project, we had difficulties with learning how use new tools and programming languages. Many of us lacked experience with analyzing massive data sets which proved to be very challenging.
