Sea levels are rising around the world, and approximately 40% of the human population lives in coastal zones. Your challenge is to help communicate the impacts of rising oceans by creating a visualization tool that illustrates the changes caused by rising sea levels in your region.

Better Life

This is a game aims to let people know that some decisions even causing subtle change will hurt the environment seriously. These decisions may make the sea level rise or cause other environment issues, which are serious problems to us.

Background

Rising sea level is a serious issue to which people should pay more attention. Some island countries have encountered drowning problem. This game aims to warn people about the danger of the rising sea level, and some other environmental issues like global warming and extreme weather.

Description

While playing this game, player has to make decisions to strike a balance between personal interest and the environment. These decisions may change the scenario and then influence his/her future life.

After finishing the game, it will display an analysis about how the decision destroyed the environment, and also show what events in this game has actually happened in the world or will happen in the future.

Challenge Faced

It's hard to communicate with people who do not care about environment. We try to visualize the data of rising sea level through creating a wonderful story and perfect gaming mode. Hope people can realize the impact of these environment issues.

Future Work

1. Complete the whole story

2. Introduce more environmental topics and data

3. Enhance UI/UX

4. Launch in other platforms

5. Develop a mechanism for users to exchange scores in the game into real money, which can be used in sponsor company such as B Corporation.
