Background: According to studies conducted by INVEMAR and IDEAM, Colombian coastal and island areas are highly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change.
Problem: Have you wondered how complicated it can be for the communities of the Colombian Pacific to understand the changes in the sea level of your region, the impacts and how to deal with them? Global warming and phenomena such as the Girl and the Boy are the main causes of sea level rising. However, although NASA provides information on these problems, this information is not easy to read and interpret and we know that an image can say much more than a text.
Solution: Our web application is a tool in which we provide information about changes in the level of the oceans, the causes, the impact and how to deal with these problems for communities in a practical and easy to understand way, taking into account that visualization is key in learning, we use images that people can see, analyze and relate to the problem. Our goal is to reach the communities so that together we can co-create and know the variations that the sea level is having by providing information collaboratively. In addition, through education we want to raise awareness and sensitize people of all ages and through praxis achieve a social transformation that educates them and helps them improve the quality of life of each of them in their community.
Who: We are Seavel, a group of students who, through social entrepreneurship, want to achieve an approach to scientific information in communities with limited resources.
