Our project's main goal is to raise awarness on climate change. We decided to make a web page that shows the user a visual simulation of what a city being destroyed or even ceasing to exist because of rising see levels would look like.
The simulation will be shown and right after it, informative messages about global warming will pop on screen. There will be also a "know more" button/link so people can get more information on that subject.
"It's 2019, why not an app?" people usually download and keep apps that will provide them some kind of distraction (like games) or that will help them with daily tasks. We know our project does not fit in any of these categories, so although we intend to make it responsive to mobile devices, we decided to make it a web page.
Getting into more details, our web page's home page will display cities that are at risk of going through serious devastation caused by rising see levels and will ask the user to pick one. When a city is picked, our web page will show an animation that simulates what would happen to that city if affected by rising see levels. When the animation is finished, a graph of rising see levels from 1993 to 2019 (present) will be displayed. This graph is made by NASA Goddard Space Flight Center and it's data source is from satellite sea level observations. After the graph is displayed, a piece of information about rising sea levels will be shown in text format. This information may be focused on what causes rising sea levels or what are it's consequences. On the bottom of that information, there will be a button/link to redirect people to some of NASA's data and most informative articles and about the subject.
