The Challenge | Trash Cleanup

Oceanic garbage patches are collections of marine debris that come together due to ocean currents; they have devastating effects on ocean ecosystems. Your challenge is to design a mission to help clean up garbage from the ocean!

CO-CG

Our idea is making a mission that is "application, active mission, and workshops". Our application is consists of three parts "developments, data base, and communications". It will be easy for people to communicate, knowing the location of the most pollute

Background

Oceanic garbage patches are collections of marine debris that come together due to ocean currents. Often not even visible when looking at that area of the ocean, as much of this debris is composed of microplastics. Oceanic garbage is a serious problem facing marine and humans' life. It destroys oceans’ ecosystems and have a great effect on human resources of food. Ourchallenge is to formulate some key technologies, procedures, and approaches to be used in a mission to help clean up oceanic garbage. We can focus our mission on the Great Pacific Garbage Patch or any of the other patches or debris in the world’s oceans. By using NASA Earth science data to 1) to determine a location where the mission could have the most positive effects on the planet, and 2) help in figuring out which type of debris to attempt to collect, and how to collect it.

Our Goal: Solving the oceanic garbage challenge by a different way that depends on cooperation effect

Our target is to create a complete mission that helps clean oceans by creative ideas which is depending on the power of social effect. Our mission is divided to 3 steps; it's an application, Active mission and workshops and events. Communication and awareness of the problem itself are the first stages to create a powerful social effect, so our first stage is the creation of Co-CG! Co-CG is an abbreviation of cooperation for collecting garbage. Co-CG is an app that was created by our group to make communication between people, recycling companies and cleaning institutions giving them an environment where they can share their ideas and solutions, knowing the location of the most polluted areas in oceans and properties with powerful techniques and data base from NASA, allowed easily. The active mission is the first mission that will be made by us. It focus on collecting garbage from Great Pacific Patch, specifically microplastics by applying our cooperation methods. By completing Co-CG mission, volunteer campaigns, workshops and events will be held to spread our mission and make it comes to our society.

While making our application, we had crush with coding and the time has come over and we didn't complete our work perfectly
