The Challenge | Trash Cleanup

Oceanic garbage patches are collections of marine debris that come together due to ocean currents; they have devastating effects on ocean ecosystems. Your challenge is to design a mission to help clean up garbage from the ocean!

Ocean α

Greenway method to remove trash from oceans.

Ecosolidal Brothers

Our idea consists to clean our oceans by removing debris (macro and micro-plastics) in a total “greenway”.

To do this we implemented an automatic drone called “Ocean α”.

Its features are:

  • Made with recycled materials (plastics and aluminum)
  • Capable of orienting itself thanks to currents from Nasa database
  • Renewable energy

The system is environmentally friendly because it allows recovering this debris exploiting the pre-existent maritime routes of Cargos and Tanks ships. Moreover when trash arrives, volunteers collect it and they differentiate plastics, so our no-profit organization gains value from selling this trash.
