The Challenge | Trash Cleanup

Oceanic garbage patches are collections of marine debris that come together due to ocean currents; they have devastating effects on ocean ecosystems. Your challenge is to design a mission to help clean up garbage from the ocean!

iClean

iclean va a mejorar, no solo la limpieza de las playas, sino que también va a incentivar a las personas a seguir cuidando el medio ambiente.

iClean

Making beach cleaning automatic

iClean is a robot that aims at improving the beach environment while teaching people the importance of taking actions on the subject.

What is iClean?

iClean is a robot designed for the recollection of any substance or object that has been thrown away, or intended to be thrown away, by its owner. Collected waste will be classified according to its composition: organic, plastic, cardboard. This robot will carry out two actions: first, it will collect waste thrown away on the beach. Secondly, it will act as a container, receiving waste that people will throw on it. Thanks to a sensor, iClean will make a positive comment to people who chooses not to throw trash on the ground, but in one of its containers. iClean will have three versions: one for glass, another one for plastics and a third one for papers. They will all include a container for fag-ends. Waste will then be compacted and taken to treatment plants.

The idea of an auto-sustentable station that presses and divides waste is also taken into account. In the same way, we also aim at creating more job opportunities. Hence, each robot will pay a tax sustaining the training and development of its godfather. Godfathers will be the human beings who are actually in charge of cleaning in coastlines.
