Microplasics are fragments of plastics smaller than five millimeters and considered one of the largest polluters on the planet. A point of highest concentration of ocean microplastics is located near the US coast, located in the northern Pacific area (between California and Hawaii). After the total removal of the garbage and to restore the marine life in that place, it is necessary not only to think about eliminating the visible, but also the microscopic one, aiming to collect microplasty. How will we perform this gathering?
Firstly, recognizing that there are marine lives in the ocean that we must first protect them, we considered using a bulk ship equipped with a sonar, so that animals can be kept away so that the removal of all microplastics by removal is safe. By means of filters, the water carried by the marine current through a pipe installed on the ship, with only the tailings smaller than five millimeters, passing through a centrifugation process allowing the removal of a large part of the plastic by means of shovels. The microplastics that are smaller in size and which have been thrown out of the centrifuge with water are mixed with fluid iron, oil and magnetite in another container and the added substances can be removed, together with the plastic, which will be stored in a separate place. appropriate on the ship, succeeding in returning clean water to the ocean.
After this process may arise another doubt and the need to ask the following question: What to do with the microplastics that will be removed from the sea? And the answer is simple: energy recycling. Energy recycling consists of a replacement of diesel, fuel oil and fossil fuels. Among the residues that can be used in energy recycling, are the food waste, disposable hygienic materials, but the most suitable material for this process is plastics, because it is derived from petroleum, has a high calorific value, which enables its use. The waste is burned in an industrial furnace at temperatures around 1,000ºC. Hot gases are drawn into a recovery boiler where steam is produced. It is this steam that drives the thermal or electric power generator, depending on the technology used.
We therefore conclude that with our idea of removing microplastics from ocean water, especially in the northern Pacific, it may be possible to drastically reduce the amount of pollution of the seas and make it possible to improve marine life.
