Awards & Nominations

Ocean warriors has received the following awards and nominations. Way to go!

Global Nominee

The Challenge | Trash Cleanup

Oceanic garbage patches are collections of marine debris that come together due to ocean currents; they have devastating effects on ocean ecosystems. Your challenge is to design a mission to help clean up garbage from the ocean!

Smart Net

Our challenge is to develop a smart model that predicts where garbage is moving and design a smart net that follows and collects the trash. We are using Nasa’s data to save the ocean for all of us and future generations

Ocean warriors

Background :

The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is the largest accumulation of ocean plastic in the world and is located between Hawaii and California. It covers an estimated surface area of 1.6 million square kilometers, an area twice the size of Texas or three times the size of France.

Resources :

  • Nasa’s data.
  • Solar panels to power the engine.
  • Speed sensor
  • GPS
  • Fish repellent probe

Challenges :

  1. Our challenge is to develop a model that uses nasa’s data such as ocean’s currents and wind circulations to determine locations where the garbage will be concentrated and design a net that receives those locations and travel
  2. We want our solution to use clean energy so we will power the net’s engine with solar panels and eco-friendly by including a fish repellent probe to protect the marine life there to collect the garbage.
