The Challenge | Trash Cleanup

Oceanic garbage patches are collections of marine debris that come together due to ocean currents; they have devastating effects on ocean ecosystems. Your challenge is to design a mission to help clean up garbage from the ocean!

Solution to Ocean Plastic

Collecting garbage before reaching the oceans using wind energy

Introduction

Increased waste in the ocean has a huge impact on our world.By investigating the causes of ocean litter. We tried to provide a solution.

First, when we investigate the locations of the wastes in the ocean and examine the situations that may cause them,We observed that there is a dense and uncontrolled waste transmission to the ocean by rivers.95 percent of them are made up of plastic. The rate of waste from rivers to oceanic will increase as this production increase continues. When we analyze the data, there is 7 billion tons of plastic waste in our world and their production continues to increase every year.plastic wastes in the oceans are gradually increasing.ocean waste will continue to increase as long as it moves and continues to flow from the sea to the oceans(it is very difficult to reduce waste to zero with this increase rate even if we clean it from the ocean)Although there are garbage collection vessels at the river exits, there is uncontrolled waste production in these rivers.Since 95% of the wastes are made of plascic, they make use of wind energy. It makes it easier for us to draw a route and send it to the recycling center.By adding controlled wind filters that can be formed towards the river exits, the wastes are delivered to the facilities. We can provide recycling.

Problem

Plastic pollution of oceans by rivers

Objective

  1. Investigation of ocean wastes
  2. investigation of plastic waste
  3. Protection of oceans

Proposed Methods

  1. Use of control mechanisms to river outlets
  2. Collection of wastes using wind energy at control points
  3. Directing to waste centers
