Turtle Project - Sea Trash Collector

We were inspired in a turtle’s shell design. The top is a solar plate so it can generate energy for its operation. Reaching maximum load capacity, the turtle will return to a mother ship where all the micro plastics will be removed and separated, since there are several kinds and not all of them are recyclable.

The ideia is that even though the turtle is autonomous, the mother ship takes care of the vessels through directions and commands to operate.

Our project mainly targets the microplastic portion, and as we are looking to solve this problem, we have developed a standalone vessel capable of filtering seawater and separating microplastics from whale-like freckles up to 1mm, and still incorporates some sound instruments with the functionality of scaring the marine life, so as not to cause damage, and cameras for trash recognition, and even if not the scope of the project, if it identifies ghost fishing trash, it issues a warning to the mother ship so that it can withdraw and protect marine life.

And we rely on the design of a tortoise shell to do our project, where the top is solar plates so it can generate the energy the vessel needs to function, and after reaching maximum load capacity, the turtle returns to a mother ship, where all the collected microplastics are removed and separated, since there are 6 types and not all of them are recyclable.

Introduction

The idea is that even being autonomous, the vessels are under the care of a mother ship, where these vessels receive the directions, and commands to operate.

2 – Real time monitoring. Shows main data from the autonomous turtles that are shipping to collect garbage.
