Background
The trash in the ocean is something faced in all over the world, and it generates a lot of problems for sea life and human helth. Because of it, we chose the Trash Cleanup challenge, because of the relevance and the problems that it is causing in the present and in the future if we not solve this problem.
What it does
MapTrash is a platform for mapping waste agglomerations in the oceans and cross-referencing this information with existing data from sea currents, surface temperature and nautical chart of maritime traffic that generates predictive analyzes of routes, origins of these agglomerations and alerts to possible stakeholders.
The mapping of this waste is done through an application in which the population and makes these records (which was motivated through a virtual reality provided to them through points scattered in the cities).
Mapping and analysis of cross-ocean waste agglomerations with behavioral data. The population feeds the mapping through in-app records.
NASA Resources
We used the Ocean Currents data to cross the State Of The Ocean (SOTO) informations about ocean (currents regime and sea surface temperature) with the records of our users on the plataform.
Space Apps Offers
We had the help of local mentors that were avaliating our ideas in the whole process. They were softwares engineers, game developers, aeral spacial engineers and mechanical engineers.
Future Plans
We intend keep this project, and update some parts related with the form that we get the informations about the garbage disposal and implement a tool to colect the garbage in the ocean. We also want to implement this project for an on-ground version to avoid the trash gets in the sea.
Build With
We used Corel Draw X8 to design the application and the to make social midia advertising.
