The Challenge | Trash Cleanup

Oceanic garbage patches are collections of marine debris that come together due to ocean currents; they have devastating effects on ocean ecosystems. Your challenge is to design a mission to help clean up garbage from the ocean!

Use a simple system for collecting plastics in offshore wind towers.

Tchê Ocean Clean

Because of the large amount of trash in the oceans, which through various studies has indicated that by 2050 we will have more plastics in the oceans than fish. We are considering using the wind towers already installed in the seas to install a gear-driven belt system that will collect plastics on the ocean surface. This system will contain a collection bag that should be removed as it becomes full. This can be monitored by cameras or even satellite data.

The idea uses nasa data from ocean currents and data already existing in currents that create garbage islands in the oceans.
