The Challenge | Trash Cleanup

Oceanic garbage patches are collections of marine debris that come together due to ocean currents; they have devastating effects on ocean ecosystems. Your challenge is to design a mission to help clean up garbage from the ocean!

Tradar

we tried to find solutions for the aspects of the pollution in oceans and shores. the first solution is an app that determines the location of the trash patches and encourage people try to collect them. The prototype targets the shore's plastic

TrashBusters

The pollution is one of the most catastrophic issues that faces our planet , as it threatens the existence of the marine life ( one of the most various ecosystems on the planet). In addition to changing in the properties of water in oceans leading to bigger problems to occur.

we searched for data about the the problem of oceanic garbage and used NASA resources about the ocean. and found out that there are two main aspects for the oceanic garbage. The first one is the trash patches in the oceans. and the second one is the trash on the shores.

we designed an app which detects the trash patches in the oceans using a heat map. and encourage people to share in collecting these patches by making a leader board containing the users with there points which are collected when they help in decreasing the amount of patches around their location.

the second aspect was covered by making a simple prototype which separates the trash from the sand on the shores using buoyancy principle . the trash floats on the top of the water and fall to the bottom of the prototype.

during our work to find suitable solutions we used many resources for example:
