Starry Night

Starry Night is a serious VR game that is mainly founded to raise awareness for light pollution, through raising curiosity for the night sky and astronomy exploration.

Burning Astronauts

The project is a serious VR game that is aimed at raising awareness about light pollution and educating users about astronomy all in an indirect way while enjoying an immersive and exciting journey of the game.

The amazing sights our grandparents used to see with their naked eye in the night sky is something now of science fiction to us. The night sky and the stars have always been an inspiration for humanity. Stars were being and are still being used for navigation. The location of the Giza Pyramids were based on the Orion's Belt. Vincent van Gogh's most famous masterpiece, Starry Night, is based on the night sky that's full of stars. And other stories that demonstrate the importance of the night sky with clear vision of stars and other interesting astronomical phenomenon. But we are losing this due to light pollution.

Light Pollution is becoming ubiquitous and is getting larger and larger over the years. It's only when we become aware of it that we will start avoiding it. Starry Night, the game, is a fun, interactive and informative way to spread this awareness and to educate the public about astronomy in general in an indirect way through self-exploration and curiosity.

The game is built around the story of a traveler searching for treasure in the past times when there was no electricity, or in other words, no light pollution. By then, he/she navigated through the stars. Once close to the treasure, he/she found her/himself traveled to the future where the night sky is plagued by light pollution and it's hard to pin things like the north star. The objective of the game is to use the stars to find the way to the treasure, use historically known astronomy devices and understand the effects of light pollution and where it's located through out the process.

There are several components included in the game that help satisfy its vision and objective including: astronomical devices, astronomical phenomena, star navigation missions, cities' light pollution data, geo and light maps, as well as some perks for the fun of the game. The game is suitable for all ages having interest in exploration.
