The Challenge | 1UP for NASA Earth

Your challenge is to create a new video game that uses NASA Earth data, providing players a novel way to interact and have fun with NASA Earth data. What you create can inform, educate, inspire, or simply provide an enjoyable experience for players – the Earth is your stage!

GeoRETRO Matching Game

This is an education type of Image matching game. That helps players understand more about the earth, solar system, moon, mars and NASA while also having fun at it.

So we developed an image matching game with some images of the earth, stars, creatures on the earth and similar things. We used images from the web as well as NASA resources. For the tools we used GitHub for source code hosting, Git for version control, VS Code for the code editor and Unity. Our inspiration was based off other similar games. The game basically starts with you and a game board where you have images presented in pairs and you have to match them up using memory commits.

The game is available on web and PC platforms for the PC version it was developed using Unity game engine and once the player successfully completes the game it takes them to a scene in which they get to pick what topic to learn Earth, Solar System, Mars, The Moon and NASA
