Climate change is really happening while some people may still not believe it or don’t think it’s a big deal. Thanks for the data provided by NASA so that we’ve built a game to show how climate change affects the duration and frequency of typhoons. The potential future effects of global climate change include more frequent wildfires (so we may see more horrible wildfires like what happened in Amazon forest), longer periods of drought in some regions and an increase in the number, duration, and intensity of tropical storms.
Typhoons have been a very common occurrence on the Pacific ocean. Normally the rainy typhoon season is around May to October. But in recent years, typhoons develop from the beginning of January to the end of November. Global warming causes an increase in the temperature of the warm gust on the Pacifc, this warmer gust of wind intensifies the rate of formation of typhoons.
The 2019 typhoon season is currently the second-costliest Pacific typhoon season on record, only slightly behind the previous year.
We aim to demonstrate the effects of climate change and provide evidence to convince people that climate change is really happening and our actions are required when players are enjoying our virtual reality game which includes data provided by NASA.
This game we developed is called Interstellar. This is a virtual reality game developed through Unity 3D. We also want to provide players an immersive experience about exploring other planets, interacting with a robot that is able to recognize your gestures and picturing typhoons happened on Earth. We place the user in a Moonbase where the user can play jigsaw puzzle games, interact with a robot that follows you around or transport to another planet. We are using several exciting technologies like artificial intelligence, gesture recognition, Unity 3D engine.
The first experience is that players can play jigsaw puzzle games to picture how typhoons have happened and influenced by climate change.
The second experience is that players can have various gestures that will be recognized by the robot trained by artificial intelligence and the robot will provide related data or events.
The third experience is that players can explore the space by transporting to other planets.
