The Challenge | To Bloom or Not to Bloom

Your challenge is to solve the mystery behind algal blooms! What factors cause blooms in some water bodies but not others, and how can we better predict their occurrence to prevent harm to aquatic and human life?

Algae^3

This is a cube that will collect data in oceans or lakes that will help us identify which factor influences the blooming of algae. This data is going to be analyze to create a model that makes predictions for the blooming.

Algea^3

Algae blooming is a natural phenomenon that is sensible to anthropogenic activities. We found that there are different factors that cause these blooming:

  • Geographic location
  • Amount of chlorophyll-a
  • Temperature
  • Conductivity of water
  • Amount of nutrients
  • Time of blooming

This cube is going to help us get better data using different sensors to measure the variables that we listed before, all this data is going to be unified and its going to be more clean and accurate. This will help us analyze it and make better predictions with machine learning. This prediction helps us prevent the algae.
