Awards & Nominations

RONDOEARTH has received the following awards and nominations. Way to go!

Global Nominee

The Challenge | From Curious Minds Come Helping Hands

Your challenge is to design and build an innovative platform to integrate satellite data and information about vulnerable populations and environmental hazards in order to identify the most at-risk populations. Be creative and think outside the box. How will you identify those people that are often missed, but need aid the most?

RONDOEARTH

The RondoEarth solution is a climate monitoring and alerting platform that will use NASA data for predictive disaster and climate change analysis, as well as enabling people around the world to assist NASA with local micro-monitoring and save lives.

RONDOEARTH
  • Background

The natural events that occur today bring concern to events around the world. The inspiration for this project was precisely an opportunity offered by the Space Apps Challenge and you can do the following to help a current society with an innovation of real time interaction by users of this community.

  • What it Does

The challenge is to identify at-risk groups and missing persons. We believe in the function placed in the app called "Save People", where users will have 03 functionalities (for now) to collaborate with situations of natural phenomena and disasters in real time. The first: RISK GROUPS, are the areas classified with a certain degree of risk due to situations and natural predictions in real time. The second: I AM HERE, is the functionality of having the emergency button for emergency situations, so with the close contacts registered in the application will be sent notifications to them with real time location. The third: User Interaction, where the user can go to forums to comment and view comments about events, such as a social network, and the same icon linked to the last connection record in case of catastrophe the cell phone is found even turned off. The other innovation that RONDOEARTH brings is the virtual secretary who gives notifications about the weather condition, reminding the user about the weather that day and news of nearby natural phenomena. The difficulty encountered by the team was to program the application. Since we do not have the notion of programming, it was not possible to create a prototype for demonstration, however, we overcome this difficulty and take advantage of what we had available to reach the second place in the challenge

  • NASA Resources

The API used is NASA's EONET (https://eonet.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/). The data will be requested by the application directly in the database available at the link https://eonet.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/docs/v2.1, with codes for consultation.

  • Space Apps Offers

Local sponsors gave us value for food during the hackathon and provided the internet with a dedicated 1gb to do our work. They were very useful for the consultations we had and also to keep working without leaving the site.

  • Future Plans

We can improve the project with the help of a developer or programmer to put it into practice. Yes, we wish to continue with the project after 2019. In everyone's opinion this project is very necessary for society today.

  • Built With

We use notebooks and cell phones.
