Global Nominee

The Challenge | Show the World the Data!

NASA’s open data sources hold an abundance of imagery. Mapping that imagery to a digital globe makes the data interactive and may enable people to discover relationships among ecosystem phenomena. Your challenge is to develop a digital globe web-app that visualizes Earth science data using NASA’s Web WorldWind.

ARMS (Augmented Reality Map Service)

ARMS project helps people see real-time NASA data in more interactive way

Apollo-13

We are high-school students from Nazarbayev Intellectual School Chemistry-Biology Direction of Almaty.

Augmented Reality allows users to create virtual objects in real world. We used Swift AR to recreate Earth, then, we imposed layers from NASA website (for example, for UV index: https://neo.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/view.php?datasetId=AURA_UVI_CLIM_M). However, this technology is novel to us. We have much more better representation of what we created. We are confident that AR is better in use than websites, because they are more interesting not only for children but also for adults. They can interact with global statistics, compare them, and admire technology and NASA's work. We only created 6 planets, but we think that is enough to understand the idea of our project.
