Challenge: Show the World Your Data

Global warming, deforestation, endangered species, and trash contaminating our seas; every problem simply caused by us. And this at a scale that big that it seems that human kind makes an effort to destroy its own environment. But, how do we know this are real problems? Every time someone investigates about this problem, two possible solutions appear: entering to unreliable pages or hiring companies to carry out investigation for us.

This is a huge problem because the lack of information threatens an innovator. If we really want to achieve innovation, we need to inform ourselves correctly from our society's problems, that’s why Delta Analytics solves this problem in three ways.

Delta Analytics is a digital, dynamic, and accesible platform that provides quick and concise information to the user. This is a data base that manages satelital information from NASA servers (Temperature, Radiation, UV Index, Precipitation, Natural Vegetation, Population Density, Net Primary Productivity, Albedo, Active Fires, etc.) and demographic and economic indexes from UN, OCDE, and World Bank data bases. Delta Analytics permits the user find problems and develop smart solutions to those by data analysis. It has tools that help to develop predictive and classification models, which permit not only permits the user to analyze the register, but also to predict the future of the planet. In addition, the validated researchers by the administrators of the platform will be able to contribute to the expansion of the site; which means that those people whose projects have the interest of developing something linked to our product, will be able to develop their project in the data base and will transform into platform collaborators.

In a few words, we will facilitate the big scale data access to develop predictions and innovative solutions to problems. In conclusion, our purpose is to promote entrepreneurship as a tool to take care of our planet and generating projects to save our home.

Process

During all the process of our project we lived a roller coaster when having different moments.

In our team, a success we clearly had was the organization, we completely organize the role each member had in the team. We divided into three segments: communication, programming and investigation; however, we could work in all of the three segments depending on the needs. Another success we can identify is the efficiency when we had to investigate the different data for the investigation needed. When we went to present for the first time with the mentors, they advised us that the project could also work for people who is looking opening a company but need a base of the probability of it being a success.

From the programmation ambit and technologic, we also had some achievements, for example, the realization of a VR game, a web page, the search engine and an entertain video. The most important achievement made was making funcionate Machine Learning, which by a data base introduced by us, the program would tell how efficient would be planting potatoes in a certain region of the world. This software could work a lot for business man, they would know how profitable is making a business of an specific crop in a certain place.

Thanks to the great team work that ocurren, it was not so difficult to make so much job. Finally, we achieved many important goals, but something we learned is how easy we can work together in team, we avoided many mistakes by asking for help to others.

Failures

The first failure we had in front of us was deciding what we wanted to do. We didn’t know clearly which challenge we would focus on or how we could imply it. After we organized what was going to do each member, our problems focused on the software when we were upfront a simple failure of sintaxis. Also, we had problems when naming the variables.

Analyze your world:

We can improve our project, Delta Analytics, by changing its view from only one country to involve more countries all over the world. This information about each country will include information about factors that could improve the economy or another factor from it. In exchange, this will help any person to get to all the information they need, for helping that country in the aspect they need to improve.

For education:

By forming alliances between companies that are interested in education, we can teach young people, especially students who aim to learn about a problem in an easier way where hopefully they can understand the situation about a current problem in the world.

Hardware we used: Computers, iPads, tablets, cellphones, Apple Pencil.

Software we used: Unreal Engine 4, Illustrator, Photoshop, Canva, Atom, OBS Studio, Visual Code Studio, HTML, CSS, Office 365, Google Apps, FlipaClip.

The coding language we used is Python, JavaScript.
