Acqua Seeds
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 2.1 billion people worldwide have no access to safe drinking water.
80% of child deaths and diseases in developing countries are related to poor water consumption.
From data collected in databases such as Earth Observatory, Landsat Viewer, SEDAC it was possible to map regions that demand water potability solutions.
In view of this, we propose the development of Acqua Seeds, a sustainable and affordable alternative for surface water treatment.
Our product is a powder obtained from the seeds of Moringa plant (Moringa oleifera), which are found in various regions of the globe, such as Latin America, Africa and part of Asia.
The use of organic coagulants, such as Moringa Oleifera seed, has great advantages over conventional methods used in water treatment. In addition to the reduction of side and environmental effects, its use is more economical, with extremely low or zero net values.
If combined with aluminum sulfate, it allows to extend its use for wastewater treatment. As for the residues of its use, they can be used as animal feed and fertilizer.
Another objective of the proposal is to propagate knowledge about cultivation and the techniques used for purification, so that the community itself can adapt to the agreement with their needs.
With this, we hope to positively impact people's lives, improve the quality of life, promote knowledge and develop a product that contributes to achieving the sustainable goal proposed by the ONU regarding drinking water and sanitation.
