The Challenge | Smash your SDGs!

Your challenge is to develop creative solutions that use Earth observations to address the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and foster sustainable development worldwide. Use NASA and other Earth observing satellites’ data as well as information generated by crowd-sourcing and in-situ measurements to create practical applications that support environmental and societal policy across water, health, food security and/or land use domains.

Greenmita / Green Lunch box

Food delivery marketplace with reusable lunch boxes and zero-carbon delivery

Colmeia / Honeycomb

After a brainstorm session, and by looking at the sheer amount of trash produced during meals at the NASA Hackathon (photos in this album), we decided that packaging of food creates an unacceptable amount of waste.

First, we had a poll to understand our target audience - we used this to identify who our consumer base is. We asked fellow participants of the hackathon to answer us. The results are here. We understood that our first focus is on flexitarians, as they unanimously believed that current food delivery apps create too much waste.

Then, we created a prototype using Marvel App. The working protoype is here. We created a couple wireframes to understand key visuals.
