The Challenge | Smash your SDGs!

Your challenge is to develop creative solutions that use Earth observations to address the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and foster sustainable development worldwide. Use NASA and other Earth observing satellites’ data as well as information generated by crowd-sourcing and in-situ measurements to create practical applications that support environmental and societal policy across water, health, food security and/or land use domains.

our project consists of an application that simplifying the connection between the hospitals and institutions of organic agriculture to provide the patients with healthy foods and help the institution to arrive to the best agricultural land for farming

The problem

As we know about the problems the world face against the environment

  • Organic waste can constitute as much as 70% of the total waste stream, our vision is that selected organic waste can either be reduced or transformed into organically beneficial products through the application of new and innovative approaches and technology for the reduce drains large land areas.
  • Cancer is a worldwide disease and one of the most common attributed factor is overused pesticide which contribute more than 20% (National Cancer Control Policy).
  • Lack of coordination between the organic food service industry and hospitals in the provision of healthy foods for patients.
  • The huge propagation of non-communicable diseases (e.g. cancer, obesity, cardiovascular disease and epilepsy etc.).

The solution

  • Developing an application that connect four different aspects:
  • The institutions interesting in organic agricultural (that convert the organic wastes to Natural fertilizer to use it instead of pesticides) and helping the institutions to find the best lands for agriculture using the data and maps of NASA and mixing the maps (co2) and agricultural lands distribution maps) together to arrive to the best land for the best products
  • Helping hospitals to communicate simply with the institutions to supply them with products to use it in the treatment

The indicators

  • Increase the productivity of the agricultural glands by 23%.
  • Decrease the size of cancer by 21.8% in just 10 days.
  • Decrease the risk factors for CVD, Diabetes, Obesity and epilepsy.
  • Decrease the greenhouse gases emission in the world.
  • Increase the effectiveness of Groundwater by reduce the debris of pesticides and decrease the pollution.
  • Increase the economic feasibility of the society.
