Introduction
CO2 levels have been rising at an alarming rate and is at its highest in 650,000 years. Society has taken initiative to tackle the issue at hand by organizing tree planting events.
But do we actually know whether the trees we plant contributes to slowing down the rate of increase?
No, the area of which these events are conducted in might not be suitable, and the trees planted are left alone without monitoring them. This means that we can't be sure that the trees we plant actually contributes to the slowing of the rate of increase of CO2.
Trees+ App
Our plan plans to provide a solution to the problem of the solution, and hope that our actions actually have an impact on our environment. We use NASA's database to create an interactive map which highlights the areas with high CO2 levels.
The app then creates an event at these highlighted areas where organizations and environmentalists can organize a tree planting event.
The app also provides suggestions to the species of trees that are the most suitable to the area and will provide the highest impact on its environment.
Local NGOs and organizations can also partner and be listed in the app where environmentalists can see which NGOs are available in the area to organize the tree planting event.
We are doing the right thing by planting trees, now we have to just do it right by planting the correct trees at the places that need them.
