The Challenge | Spot That Fire V2.0

Your challenge is to create an application that leverages NASA's near-real-time and archival wildfire datasets along with other tools to support firefighting and fire mitigation efforts. This challenge builds on last year’s challenge of the same name by calling for innovative ideas and apps that focus on how to engage and enable citizens to assist with the entire firefighting and fire mitigation process.

Lighting Wildfire Visibility

We've built a visualization web app that displays all global wildfires in the past 7 days. We hope that users who view our app gain an appreciation for how global wildfire issues are to our environment!

Ash

How many wildfires are currently active around the world?
How do people know about active wildfires?
These are the questions that we aim to address. Fire affects the whole ecosystem from soil to human’s lives around and even in areas far away from the fire's borders. Thus, we need to find a way to reduce its impact.
Our team created a consolidated web app map for users to understand how global the problem of wildfires is.
The app helps to visually represent all active wildfires to users in a central map that allows them to pinpoint information specific to a single wildfire and identify wildfires in their location.
