The Challenge | Spot That Fire V2.0

Your challenge is to create an application that leverages NASA's near-real-time and archival wildfire datasets along with other tools to support firefighting and fire mitigation efforts. This challenge builds on last year’s challenge of the same name by calling for innovative ideas and apps that focus on how to engage and enable citizens to assist with the entire firefighting and fire mitigation process.

Brute Force

Objectives :

  • The main objectives of the project is to report a forest fire incident.
  • Use NASA data sets for more accurate results
  • Make more reliable alerts

Key Features of the project :

  • Google Map API - This has been used to plotting the fire hazards according to the recent data sets of NASA. The data set has been taken from FIRMS and for the last 24 hrs. It plots all the places around world where fores fire has taken place in the last 24 hours.
  • Chat Bot - Integration of chat bot using Kommunicate and Dialogflow. The chat bot is also accessible by Google Assistant and Telegram. The chat bot can be used to make the web application more easily accessible with the help of Google Assistant.
  • Track of the Emergency Reporter - If someone reports an incident in the emergency section of the web application then , it's location is tracked in the form of latitudes and longitudes.
  • EMAIL Notifications - The Admin can send emails to all the registered users and the local authorities (fire station, police station etc.) about the fire when some emergency incident is reported.
  • Azure Database For Backup - As we are using Azure Services therefore, we have used it's SQL Server to host a database in it

Resources:

  • NASA Open Dataset

  • Kommunicate.io
  • Google Dialogflow
  • Telegram Bot

Challenges Faced:

  • Learnt this which were not used by us earlier and implemented in limited span of time.
  • Testing had taken a lot of our time.
