The Challenge | Spot That Fire V2.0
Your challenge is to create an application that leverages NASA's near-real-time and archival wildfire datasets along with other tools to support firefighting and fire mitigation efforts. This challenge builds on last year’s challenge of the same name by calling for innovative ideas and apps that focus on how to engage and enable citizens to assist with the entire firefighting and fire mitigation process.
Inferno AI
Inferno AI is a cloud based web app that leverages real time satellite data and deep learning to predict probability and severity of wildfires occurring in specified locations, via a simple user interface with a dynamic alert system.
In order to tackle the prominent and relevant problem of wildfires, we decided to use a novel 4 tier architecture applying computer vision and machine learning to NASA raw satellite data. The final product is an simple/clean and intuitive user interface based in the cloud, allowing for easy use by anyone in the world at any time in emergency situations. The resources we used are NASA satellite data, Tensorflow library, Material UI library, React.js framework, Glitch hosting, and Netlify global deployment.
