Awards & Nominations

ICFire has received the following awards and nominations. Way to go!

Global Nominee

The Challenge | Spot That Fire V2.0

Your challenge is to create an application that leverages NASA's near-real-time and archival wildfire datasets along with other tools to support firefighting and fire mitigation efforts. This challenge builds on last year’s challenge of the same name by calling for innovative ideas and apps that focus on how to engage and enable citizens to assist with the entire firefighting and fire mitigation process.

ICFire

ICFire is a web app created to improve fire reporting by minimizing the reaction time. It's designed for use by public services and private users. ICFire collects data from those sources and includes data delivered by NASA, all combined into one clear app.

ICFire

NASA FIRMS informs about 2000 fire incidents in the last 24h in Europe!

… and around 84 000 worldwide! [src: NASA FIRMS 10/19/2019]

Satellite based fire-incidents-data are expected to be delayed even for hours after incident start, since NASA FIRMS depends on current satellite position. ICFire provides real-time data!

WITH OUR APP EVERY USER CAN REPORT FIRE πŸ”₯

Fire-incident-witness can report it over ICFire API by providing following information:

- Name and Surname

- Contact details

- Localization (GPS-based)

- Incident description/photo

- Checkboxes for faster incident description: people, building, forrest, hazardous substances, electrical installation

Registration enables even faster incident reporting!

The information is delivered to the Fire Department which can start action immediately after incident confirmation.

HOW IS IT BETTER THAN THE EMERGENCY HOTLINE AND HOW TO CONFIRM THOSE FIRE INCIDENTS? 🀳

By integration with the phone number tracking system managed by the public services we can directly verify if reporting person was actually witnessing the incident. Our system can handle more reports at once than the emergency hotline, and won't be blocked by various people reporting the same incident.

HOW DOES IT WORK? πŸš’

User witnesses fire and reports it via ICFire – the system provides information to the local fire Department/Emergency Hotline and also sends push-/sms-notification to affected users living nearby the incident.

Fire Department can also provide additional information about security measures for concerned citizens e.g. "fire incident at local landfill, please stay inside with windows closed and air-conditioning off".

HOW WILL ICFire PERFORM WITHOUT ANY USERS? πŸ“‘

The system already provides information about current fire incidents worldwide due to integration with NASA FIRMS.

ICFire IS FULLY SCALABLE πŸš€

Our ideas for the future development of ICFire are:

- Reporters scoring based on amount of verified reports

- Commanding officers scoring based on successful operations

- using AI to target incidents based on social media photos with meta-data

Our System is fully scalable!

ICFire is based on a system, that can be used for any kind of incidents handling and prevention e.g. water, hurricane, traffic, outages.
