Background:
We have choosen Spot the Fire Challenge v2.0 inspired in the recents forest fire that happended in Amazonia, Brazil. We saw the need to inform and empower the citizens to be involved in the combat and prevention of forest fires, giving mechanisms to became noticed in real time by the responsible authorities capable to put out the fire, other citizens in their regions and also international community.
What it does:
We created a self-managment risk plataform, ie, citizens warn and are notified if there is a forest fire and receive/insert focus location and degree of fire. Medical staff and fire brigade are also instantly notified so that the disaster can be countered. It is a simple site that facilitates fire information, quikly reaching national and international authorities, as well as printing.
NASA Resources:
The Space Apps Collaborators helped us giving ideas to create our own logo, giving a strong orientation in how to do pitch and analysing our plataform design.
Future Plans:
We intend to expand plataform use not only to report forest fires, but also any environmental negligence.
Built With:
Our team based the development requirement analysis on Design Thinking and SCRUM methodology to delivery value. We employed VueJS as main technology to support our system through Web to be served to all kinds of devices and joined with social network APIs (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram).
We selected Google Maps API to show real time data about forest fires, combined with NASA Fire Information for Resource Management System (FIRMS). Besides, the system was developed to held information provided by the users which can give information about where fires are occurring and estimate fire severity.
