The Challenge | Spot That Fire V2.0

Your challenge is to create an application that leverages NASA's near-real-time and archival wildfire datasets along with other tools to support firefighting and fire mitigation efforts. This challenge builds on last year’s challenge of the same name by calling for innovative ideas and apps that focus on how to engage and enable citizens to assist with the entire firefighting and fire mitigation process.

FireHazard | AI and Smartphones to prevent and detect fires

Our tool, which strives to prevent fires and to protect citizens, allow users to report fires and inform themselves of the active ones along with predictions based on past data. Working with the government we hope to alert citizens with or without the app.

What it does

Our app focus on the prevention of fire involving civil population with the target of reducing the response time and decrease the damages that could have been caused. Moreover, other objective of the app is to warn with an alert similarly to “Amber Alert” like in the U.S.A. that advise to users or not-users of the application of near fires which can cause damages to them. Finally, our app takes local environmental data to predict the probability of fire in the user's area.

Background:

It’s a human project that let the civil population to participate with firefighters without taking any risks. Furthermore, our app has been developed for Spain but in a future it could be applied to the whole world with more computing capacity and more and varied dates.
