Background

One of the most overlooked aspect of fighting forest fires is communication. It is vital that the proper authorities be notified as soon as possible when a fire occurs. But also, sometimes the fires are uncontrollable, and it´s not enough with the fireman labor, and the help of more people is necessary.

What it does

Our app:

Collects satelital data from NASA

Image classification using deep learning

Synchronized with GEO LOCATION

Integration with SOCIAL MEDIA

- Allows users to report fires easily in their location and help extinguish fires nearby them.

- Allows firefighters to receive notifications of fires near them sent by the NASA satellite or by users, also to report fires and request help if necessary.

Difficulties

• It is needed the real time data, we have a delay of 24h.
• Classification of fires
• Allow the app to work off-line

-Integrate all the App functionalities.

NASA Resources

The NASA web service used was FIRMS because satellite data provide information to identify fires around the globe

Future Plans

-Improve the accuracy of image detection algorithm.

-Create a deep link from notifications to the map location.

-Integrate evacuation routes.
