The Challenge | Surface-to-Air (Quality) Mission

Your challenge is to integrate NASA data, ground-based air quality data, and citizen science data to create an air quality surface that displays the most accurate data for a location and time. Create algorithms that select or weight the best data from several sources for a specific time and location, and display that information.

Air Indicator

Air Indicator is a platform that display air quality data, integrated with various data sources. It contains a predictive machine learning algorithm for estimating air quality in locations where measurement is inaccurate.

According to NASA, the air pollution is associated with almost 5 million deaths worldwide. According to World Health Organization 91% of the world's population lives in places where air quality exceeds WHO guideline limitsยน.

Data was collected in AirNow platform, OpenAQ API and datasets made available by NASA in the challenge website. It was used a machine learn algorithm to merge the data and predict air quality data in locations where data are inaccurate or unavailable.

We faced challenges in choosing the machine learning technique, but after researches and tests we decide to use the Random Forest technique because this technique detail the data characteristics better.
