The Challenge | Warming Planet, Cool Ideas

Your challenge is to examine existing space and Earth projects and systems and adapt them into specific technologies that help stabilize or improve the Earth’s weather, and/or eliminate processes that cause global warming. Your solution could be a technology, a movement, an idea – let your imagination have no bounds!

For cooling earth two sides must be solved,(1 dust particles by dust sensor to detect its presence, after detecting electrostatic percipitators attracts dust particles.(2 oxides, infrared rays by tio2 that destroys harmful pollutants by reacting with light.

Clusters team
  • Dust particles, chemical compounds and others that are suspended in the air from cars, and factories emissions always fights the atmosphere by increasing the temperature and destroying the ozone layer. As well as the infrared rays coming from the sun which is also increasing the Earth's temperature. So both of them must be concluded in the solutions. So we decided to work on them both, by using the most available source in our country which is our homes to be innovative homes . Innovative homes are homes in which, first: their surfaces are covered with titanium dioxide and we have catched this idea by thinking of the components of the sun blocks as we have searched about what substance present in it that protects our skin from the sun , and we have found that it is titanium dioxide. Then we decided to use it as a cover for home's surfaces as it has important advantages. First, it becomes reactive in the presence of sun light as sun light reacts with it, then it reacts with the harmful pollutants present in air like nitrogen oxides and it convert these pollutants to harmless ones.
  • (2) it has the ability to disperse the infrared rays coming from the sun to overcome its role in rising the temperature.
  • Second: on the home's surface there will be a dust sensor to detect the quality of air as it has infrared led which emits rays that is reflected by the dust particles. And after detecting the presence of the dusts the Arduino will displays the results on LCD screen so that we will be able to see it. Then from the idea of the capacitors we catch the second part of our idea as we will make electrostatic percipitators to charge the dust particles with positive charges during the flowing of the air between the positive and the negative pole, so that the dust particles will attach to the negative pole, and all that will be in a medium that saves the charges of the poles.
  • So when we detect from the screen the presence of dusts there will be an electric circuit with a switch like that of the lamp with ON and OFF values we will click on the switch we will connect the wires between the poles and the electric source (which will be the solar cells) to charge the poles and make them attract the dusts.
