Fifty years ago, generations were inspired when humans made a giant leap and walked on the moon. Today, NASA is committed to returning to the moon and beyond! Your challenge is to create an artistic work to communicate, inform, or inspire others about humanity’s return to the moon.

PROBLEM

The problem here is that, 2% of increase in employment over the duration of 10 years in US is very slow. Imagine it here in the Philippines now. The AdDU now is having this aerospace engineering program that aims to produce 500 aerospace engineers for the next 5 years.

Now think, this could not be a problem of yours nor mine as for now. But this could be a potential problem in our nation in the future. Our solution into this future problem is to promote the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics in a VR application.

SOLUTION

NEIL is an interactive game that lets you experience the adventure of the man who traveled the moon, Mr. Neil Armstrong, together with his team. This is to educate the young generations and provide them the knowledge on what happened when humans landed on the moon through virtual reality. A tickle of curiosity can be the opening door for young generations to study space.

The VR application uses the data from NASA, where we based the texture of the moon. It is also base on the story of the Apollo 11 mission. The moon expedition is the most iconic moment of human history, and by the data given by NASA, we would like to make use of this data in providing the inspirations to the young generations to explore more about space.

In the development stage, a problem in the assets of VR emerged because not all of us are experienced in developing in UNITY. But we still managed to surpass the difficulties with the help of the online resources.

We are aiming to help the local schools who have a lack of visualization materials for their education. Buying a cheap VR box and an app that visualizes the experience in space could help the young generations in understanding the space and also by inspiring them.
