The Challenge | The Art Side of the Moon

Fifty years ago, generations were inspired when humans made a giant leap and walked on the moon. Today, NASA is committed to returning to the moon and beyond! Your challenge is to create an artistic work to communicate, inform, or inspire others about humanity’s return to the moon.

Our project was a hip hop song about the moon. This piece was written, edited and performed by teens in grades 7 - 10 from the William Penn School District. They did every bit of this video by themselves.

Zero Gravity

Team Zero Gravity is an all youth team from Darby, PA USA. The students were in grades 7-10 and created all this work themselves. We experienced a lot of technical issues with our not-current, borrowed video equipment and in the end we were unable to get the video off the laptop we were using. The video we can show you is actually a video of the students presentation where we were able to get the video shown to our parents. This song / video was created with a copyright free back track.

Here is the Video of our students song about the Moon:

Here is the students entire presentation to our Community (It is a local requirement that our students present the work they have done over the last 48 hours to parents and Community). You can skip over the song part to see the rest of their presentation.

In Darby, PA our NASA Space Apps event is a 48 hour lock in with students of the William Penn School District. We start our NASA Space Apps at 4pm on Friday in our Middle School Library and we end Sunday at 3pm. We work, eat, sleep and play as a unit all weekend. We sleep on the floor in sleeping bags. It's all pretty intense. We also bring in speakers for the students of folks that work in STEAM industries and recent alumni to talk to the students about college life.
