The Challenge | Eeny, Meeny, Miney, Sample!

You are the astronaut/robotic mission lead tasked with bringing valuable specimens from the Moon back to Earth for further study. How will you evaluate lunar samples quickly and effectively before or while still on the mission? How will you differentiate samples of potential scientific value from less interesting material?

NASA Rock identifier

After Apollo's landing with 800 pounds of rocks most of them were useless due to the lack of knowledge for classification. Our AI project will identify and classify the rock within seconds so the astronaut will easy decide which rock will be brought back.

Apollo has brought back to Earth 800 pound of lunar rocksafter a big difficulty at the surface of the moon as they were wearing a hugepressure suit, which make it very difficult to move around and even harder tobend down, since that we are facing an important challenge; which is making aproject that helps on identifying the type, properties and value of theminerals in an accurate way as much as possible to save time, energy, and moneyby a simple way using modern technology.

In the 21st century, the world is giving a strict eye on the artificial intelligence. so, we have developed a mobile application which is mainly based on it. Our mobile application is going to determine the physical and the chemical properties of the mineral and its value as soon as the astronaut uploaded images of the mineral taken by a microscope or even a mobile camera as a simulation on the application and also it will identify the percentage of accuracy.

By using this application, the astronaut will be able to identify if the mineral should be brought back to Earth or not within seconds.

We conclude from all the previous that by applying our project much time, energy and money will be saved, as well as bringing back the valuable minerals only, the load of the space vehicles decreases which will save fuel.back the valuable minerals only,

more important thing that we have depended on the challenge example resources, mainly on lunar source book for our database.
