The Challenge | Eeny, Meeny, Miney, Sample!

You are the astronaut/robotic mission lead tasked with bringing valuable specimens from the Moon back to Earth for further study. How will you evaluate lunar samples quickly and effectively before or while still on the mission? How will you differentiate samples of potential scientific value from less interesting material?

With very limited time and tools to pick up only the most valuable specimens, we're using computer vision & Lunar Prospector Neutron Spectrometer.

With very limited time and tools to pick up only the most valuable specimens, and not "extra" material. Our idea is training a ML model to use computer vision to relyon patterns and inference of valuable minerals and rocks on the moon. Thenusing Lunar Prospector Neutron Spectrometer to evaluate the alerted samples.
1- Astronaut time saved by discovering only scouted areas..
2- EVA astronaut time saved by evaluating only what alerts.
3- Value per pound increased by accurate scanning of larger areas.
4- Space ready by using a computer vision model & NDE technique.
