Global Nominee

The Challenge | Build a Planet

Your challenge is to create a game that will allow players to customize the characteristics of a star and design planets that could reasonably exist in that star system. Ensure that this game provides an educational experience for players!

2 THE STARS

The game will develop children's curiosity by making them enthusiastic about the cosmos and becoming our future researchers, astronauts and scientists!

BLAZAR

Background:

My little brother is 9 year old and he is very curious, he likes astronomy so much but he says to me that is hard to learn, so we choose a game cause we know that children likes to play and learn, but there's no atractive material to teach astronomy to children or don't take their attention. So, the game will allow the user to learn about the chemistry, physics and theories presents on our universe with an easy yet challenging gameplay, where he will receive the information from the stars and will have to create a planet based on their particular chemical compositions and build his own solar system. In addition to having a platform of information with celestial bodies, research and universal doubts called the "explore". Our target audience is children from 7 ~ 12 years old, but with a complexity and attractive information for all ages, so we can capture a variation of persons, cause the story behind the challenge is that our fellow residents of other galaxies and stars, ask help rebuild their homes, as the planets where they lived were destroyed by some factors that will also be explained in the reports users will receive. We focus on the simplest and truest information possible, to bring valid knowledge and more curiosity about our universe and to help users understand how everything works above us, with the subjects we learn in schools. We believe that when prompted to think and search for their curiosities, not only children, but also all kinds of public, developing in users a desire to learn about the cosmos and take care of future of our earth and universe, cause for knowledge there's no age, everyone is and can be more amazing.

Resources:

We use NASA websites with information about the planets and chemistry, using the challenge chat and searching the internet and books to complement and enrich the information even more.

We also use graphics softwares (illustrator, photoshop, adobe xd), paper, pen, prototyping tool (figma) and game development software (game maker) and sample images from NASA's gallery and internet.

Challenges:

Our biggest challenge was the mismanagement of the team members' time and sleep, we fretted a lot without sleep and on 3am we're all sleepy, but then it was resolved successfully.

Elaborate the gameplay of the game and the tests based on the stars and materials that the planets are made of, but with the help of the on-site, mentors presents here and the available information we can put together realistic mechanics.

Relate the information and simplify it without lose its validity, so that the users do not wonder and lose the desire to read and search on the subject.
