We build this game to people can learn by a didactic and entertaining way about an exoplanet, the stars are similar to sun and how it works a whole solar system, the minimum necessary parameters to the system creation who contain potencial habitable planets. All this with the purpose to enhance the desire to explore far away from our solar system, at the same time develop an intuition about cosmic parameters and physics laws description.
The game is about 1 o more players who can choose a star type. Starting from this, they have to determine distances and masses to the translation period (a year duration in that planet), and get to know if the exoplanets are in that star orbit. This way allows to create an habitable solar system, potencially like ours.
The app will show to player, according to physic laws, if the exoplanet is absorbed by the star, stays in orbit or get lost in derbis.
To modelade the system behavior, we use a database got it from (https://exoplanetarchive.ipac.caltech.edu/) and the Exoplanet Catalog from NASA (https://exoplanets.nasa.gov/), also a list from EU extrasolar planets web (exoplanetas.eu). Thanks to this datasets we get masses, radios and temperature star values.
Yes in did, we are glad to use google firebase to develop our database solution, but we didn't use the credit because the testing phase is too narrow to spend the credits.
In the future we would like improve the game in this tematics:
1) For simplify the ecuation of the modele movement planet, we use a circular orbit. How ever in the reallity the orbit is eliptic and buildt the app with that would take us more time.
2) Extend the discover database exoplanet, in spite of we use 5 exoplanet (Rocky and Gaseous) for the demo under time.
3) Add animation and sounds according the interaction and usability.
4) Add a scord system: the player with more habitable orbit win.
5) Show in the game the science explanation, even if the results are favorable or not.
The app was developped with
Frontend: Illustrator,
Backend: React Native, React
Database: Firebase
