Part Time Astronauts| Build a Planet

Project Details

The Challenge | Build a Planet

Your challenge is to create a game that will allow players to customize the characteristics of a star and design planets that could reasonably exist in that star system. Ensure that this game provides an educational experience for players!

PlanetBuild

PlanetBuild is a game in which players are able to build solar systems. It's aim is to provide a way of learning the different characteristics of every part of any solar system through an enjoyable experience and interaction.

Part Time Astronauts

We are Part Time Astronauts.

Our challenge was to create a game that teaches the players how solar systems work. The young audience specifically kids aged 5-12 do not use the modern technology in a positive direction. Many of them play computer games and through gamification we found a way to create a game that they can play and also learn from.

In the prologue of the game we focus on the interactive part because the players can memorize the important facts faster and easier through questions because they will pay more attention. We focus on every planet's characteristics such as the inner layers of the planet, the atmosphere, the natural satellites, the different natural elements that every planet has and the conditions that it provides. The prologue also points out details that teach the users how everything works together in the solar system so later in the game they can use that information to build a new one from scratch.

The full game is planned to be in either 2D or 3D depending on the circumstances and resources that are available to us. We hope that with the playing of this game the young generations could get an idea of how the solar systems work and that it encourages them to start learning astronomy.
