The Challenge | The Memory-Maker

Traditional electronics do not work well on Venus, and memory is one of the biggest challenges. Your challenge is to develop mechanical approaches to accomplishing tasks normally done electronically within the context of space exploration.

Star Wire that storages data

Team of people who looking for a team

We are a team of mathematicians, physicists and programmers, who developed a reliable mechanical data storage for extreme environmental conditions (high temperature, pressure, toxic environment).

Our memory system, which we called "Star Wire", might be used on Venus as a part of future mission with mechanical rover.

The idea is simple, yet beautiful: we take nichomium wire, and code information on it by making notches.
Later, when this data is needed, wire is taken out and decoded, one notch at a time.

"Star Wire" is an easy-to-implement system, which is ressistant to pressure, high temperatures and toxic environments!

Our project has many useful implementations. For example, it can be used to research Earth's magma or Earth's volcanoes. Or, it can be used to automate human work in unhuman conditions: metalurgic hot shops, deep mines etc.
