The Challenge | Orbital Scrap Metal — The Video Game
Nuts, bolts, spent rocket stages, and broken pieces of satellites orbiting Earth are just a few of the many thousands of items known as orbital debris, or space junk. Your challenge is to create an orbital debris collection videogame web-app! You may build upon NASA’s Spacebirds and real data.
Debris Quest
A game to collect space debris which are displayed based on real data.
Background
We built a game which the user can see and interact with the real data of space debris.

Challenges
We build the app using the libraries from WorldWind.
- Display the player's own spacecraft (Custom 3D model)
- Move the spacecraft by key input
- Show debris based on real data(NORAD TLE json data)
Game System - we could not build some features which we had in mind
- Collision detection
- Apply color/texture to the spacecraft 3D model
- Move the debris
- Display satellites, which users should not capture
