We chose this challenge because we wanted to inspire children to take care of space, so that the adults of the future will be more careful with the space environment.
To achieve this goal, we have used historical and current data from NASA to make a Web Game where the children will be the ones to protect real-world inspired spacecraft from being damaged by space junk.
We have used real world data about the location of Debris and Rocket Bodies acquired from the same NASA database used in WorldWindLabs' SpaceBirds to be shown on game to players, based on their altitude, which varies with their progress in the game.
The Nasa Space Apps Challenge Manaus' Collaborators and Sponsors were very helpful to the development of our project, because they provided a comfortable working area and good food, as well as the very powerful insights.
We believe that our project can be improved by increasing the amount of real world spaceships to defend and cooler upgrades. It is also possible to monetize it by selling aesthetics items for the spaceships.
We used the Phaser 3 API, programmed with JavaScript in the Visual Studio Code IDE, both in Windows 10 and Mac OS.
Our game can be found in spacegari.co, and the source code in https://gitlab.com/space-gari/web-game.
