RestorOcean has received the following awards and nominations. Way to go!
We realized this project because we are affected by the pollution problem that our planet meets and we are involved in the recycling on earth but also thanks to this challenge we start we interested in marine pollution we realize that plastic waste is very harmful to fauna and flora and causes a lot of damage for animals, the earth and the human being.
Our project will help reduce this problem,
So,We started our research by looking at the satellite images taken on the following sites:
https://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov/
https://podaac.jpl.nasa.gov/Altimetric_Data_Information
https://earthexplorer.usgs.gov/
And we were able to isolate the 5 most polluted zones based on the study of marine swirls ,we verify the zones by sending a helicopter that verifies so real places are polluted and will send images in real time if it confirms our studies the bases will be immediately sent.
the 5 zones are:
•North pacific
•South atlantic
•North atlantic
-South pacific
-indian ocean
the whole process will be monitored by a helicopter and we are working to replace it by a drone that will be recharged on bases or will have a battery greater than 1h
after choosing the most polluted place we send our two bases connected with a net as shown in the prototype, when the net begins to fill ,the value of the voltage sensor starts to change up to a maximum value we chose our sensors thanks to the advices of the coaches.
at the same time as the net fills the voltage sensor gives a signal to the two bases so that they advance towards each other in order to close the net at the same time the absorption systems absorbs the contents of the net (water + waste)
a system inside will separate the water from the solid waste, the solid waste will be stored then delivered by boat to companies of sorting (competing team of space apps challenge oran), the water will be filtered microplastics with a chemical formula who will dissolve it as quickly as possible but also using the innovative method of Fionn Ferreira famous winner of google science fair.
we had a problem about the energy supply of our bases or the energy of the marine current was not enough, so we decided to increase the pressure of the water eject bases .
we power our engines with the electricity produced by the pressure of the filtered water eject outside the bases at a high speed, we would like to add later wind turbines and a system of compression of waste inside the bases.
the difficulty was to develop a very detailed automatic system, which is inside the bases but we needed more time, we are working on it at the moment....
we used Adobe illustrator to do the video of the prototype ...

Nasa data was really helpfull to detect the most polluted places and to study marine swirls which is one of the most important part of our project.
the work that remains to be done is to establish a model of automated system, developping a battery for the drone .
