The Challenge | Trash Cleanup

Oceanic garbage patches are collections of marine debris that come together due to ocean currents; they have devastating effects on ocean ecosystems. Your challenge is to design a mission to help clean up garbage from the ocean!

Rubbish Quest

Rubbish Quest is aimed at cleaning up rubbish before it reaches our oceans. Our reward app will encourage young and old to pick up and bin rubbish correctly. We need to protect our environment.

Rubbish Quest

88% of the Earth's ocean surface is covered with plastic. We need to protect our environment and ensure that rubbish is cleared before it can enter our waterways and oceans. This will help the sea life as well as us. Our project involved creating an app to encourage adults and children to pick up and bin litter. The app will use NASA's data to locate areas with large quantities of trash and set them as missions to complete. Participants will scan a bin's barcode and then the barcodes of items. They will be awarded points which can be transferred into real prizes. As well as helping the environment, this will encourage people to be more responsible with their waste, exercise and work together.
